Overview
A full northern circuit built around one early morning on the crater floor.
There are perhaps thirty black rhino left in the Ngorongoro Crater, and seeing one is a matter of being in the right place very early, with a guide who knows which grass they favour in which month. This itinerary is engineered around that single hour.
Everything before it is a proper luxury northern circuit, taking in Tarangire's elephant herds, a full Serengeti day on the open plains, and a scenic transition through the highlands. It builds, deliberately, toward the crater.
On the tracking morning we descend ahead of the day traffic with a specialist guide and a packed breakfast, and we stay down there as long as it takes. Nothing in nature is guaranteed, but this is the best chance in Tanzania, and we treat it that way.

Tarangire National Park
A full game drive in Tarangire, working the river line and swamp edges for elephant, buffalo and tree-climbing lion.

Travel to the Serengeti
Travel west into the Serengeti and begin game viewing as the plains open out, settling into a luxury camp for the night.

A full day in the Serengeti
Morning and afternoon drives across the plains and kopjes, with time given freely to whatever the day produces.

Highlands transition
A scenic drive through the highlands toward Ngorongoro, arriving at a rim property in good time for an early night.

Black rhino tracking in the crater
An early descent for a focused black rhino and Big Five tracking drive on the crater floor, with breakfast in the vehicle and a specialist guide reading the caldera hour by hour.

Return or continue on
A final highland morning, then return to Arusha or continue to your next destination.
