The northern Serengeti is a very long way from Arusha by road. Flying in turns two hard driving days into two more days at the river, which in crossing season is the only currency that matters.
You are based in a luxury tented camp within reach of Kogatende, so the vehicle can be at a promising bend before the light is good and can stay there without a two-hour commute hanging over the afternoon.
Crossings cannot be booked. What we can do is put you in the right region with the right guide for two consecutive full days, which is roughly how long patience usually needs. The predators along the river make even the quiet hours worth sitting through.

HOW THE JOURNEY UNFOLDS

Arrive in Arusha
Arrive in Arusha and prepare for your fly-in departure, with a briefing on current herd position and a soft-bag repack for the light aircraft.
- 02
Fly to the northern Serengeti
Fly north to a bush airstrip near the Mara River and begin with an afternoon game drive, getting a feel for where the herds are massing.
- 03
Tracking the build-up
A full day tracking the migration and the river-crossing build-up, moving between bends as the herds gather and hesitate on the bank.
- 04
A second day in the north
Another full day following herd movement and predator action along the river and across the northern hills.
- 05
Final drive and fly out
A short final game drive at first light, then breakfast in camp before flying back to Arusha for onward connections.
