Serengeti & Ngorongoro Camping Explorer safari route in Tanzania

3 Days / 2 Nights

Serengeti & Ngorongoro Camping Explorer

Real safari, close to the ground.

Overview

Three days, two icons, and canvas between you and the plains.

Camping is how safari was done before it was an industry, and it is still the most honest version of it. You sleep inside the park, you hear what walks past in the night, and you are already there when the plains wake up.

The route runs west from Arusha over the Ngorongoro Highlands, pauses at the crater viewpoint for the first shock of scale, then drops into the Serengeti for game viewing and a night at a mobile camp. On the way back you descend into the crater itself.

It is priced within reach of travellers who would otherwise skip the north entirely, and it does not cut the parks or the guiding to get there. The saving is in the canvas, not the safari.
